 Hiding fields in portal style profile [SOLVED]
#
Board link: here

My goal: To hide certain fields/elements from the profile page. The messenger fields, and the Personal Info fields. Ideally, I could keep the Custom Title and Options. I'd eliminate the Personal Photo section, and the Personal Info section (location, born, & website). However, I'll suppress the whole .profile-personalinfo if I have to.

My failed method: I tried using the suggested techniques in this thread to hide some elements from the profile page. Currently, I have this in the stylesheet:
CODE
#field-gtalk, #field-aim, #field-yim, #field-msn, #field-skype { display: none; }

.profile-personalinfo { display: none; }

I also tried removing the #field-gtalk, etc. and replacing it with .profile-contactinfo { display: none; }.

Problem: The display none div ID method doesn't seem to be working at all. owl's suggestion here does hide the chat fields when you edit the profile, but the fields are all still showing up on the profile pages.

I'm sure it's some foolish error on my end, but I'm stumped. Thanks in advance!

Thanks! But I had tried that already (it's in the above post, I promise http://files.b1.jcink.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif ) and it wasn't working.

It suppresses the fields when you go to 'settings', but when you view a member profile, the fields still appear.

No dot - it's not a class, it's an ID.

Trying placing it at the very top of your stylesheet. These both should be working.

GMaster479 & John --- Yes, your instructions working perfectly. Thank you, both! I completely missed the nuance of class vs. ID.

I had started off using .profileleft and then just continued messing up from there because I'm clueless.

Thanks for solving!
