Okay, so I've been scouring the net trying to find an answer for this before posting, but most of what I've found says it cannot be done. I'm looking for a code/script that allows the avatar image for the last author in a post's avatar to show up in a spot in the forum descriptions. I know it's possible, I've seen it work here and here. I just haven't been able to figure out HOW. I know using the same format for the avatar (PNG, JPG, GIF) is required, and it needs to be directly uploaded, no URL. Beyond that? I'm lost. Any help with this would be appreciated! It's a feature I've been hoping to see come into play, and would love to use it if I or someone else can figure it out!

Looks like they're using the <!-- |last_poster_id| --> variable to complete the link. Pretty sure this would only work if you ensured all avatars were uploaded to the forum, as it wouldn't work for external images.

Hey Dusty! Thanks for the help! So if I'm going to try and do something similar (and forgive me if I sound stupid, bit rusty at the moment), I'd need to link the image like so:

CODE
<a href="/index.php?showuser=<!-- |last_poster_id| --> " title=" <!-- |author_name| --> " target="_blank" style="background-image: url('<!-- |avatar_url| -->')"> </a>

CODE
<img src="https://files.jcink.net/uploads/YOURSITEURLHERE//av-<!-- |last_poster_id| -->.png">

I think <!-- |avatar_url| --> doesn't currently work on the forum row. If only!

Edit: I checked one of my old skins, and this is what I had:

CODE
{background: url('https://files.jcink.net/uploads/SITENAME//av-<!-- |last_poster_id| -->.png'), url('https://files.jcink.net/uploads/SITENAME//av-<!-- |last_poster_id| -->.gif'), url('https://files.jcink.net/uploads/SITENAME//av-<!-- |last_poster_id| -->.jpg'), url('PLACEHOLEDER IMAGE HERE')}

Yay that worked! Thank you Owl!!

Although one final question lol. If I wanted a background image as a placeholder also... and I see the sites I've referenced have this, any suggestions on how to add that as well?

It should actually be pretty easy to accomplish given the way the background stacks now - I edited the code above, hopefully that'll do it for ya. ^^

Tried it, and it shows my placeholder image but not the avatar image. I may just go with no placeholder and deal since that works, and I don't want to be a pain XD

Hmm, yeah, I don't know - it's working on one of my skins, but I can't say why. You can try wrapping whatever div you're defining with another div, and make the placeholder image attached to the second div but either way, I'm glad you got he last poster's avatar working.

Everything was there, I checked using Google's inspect feature. It was just stacking the placeholder on top of the others rather than the other way around. I tried a few things to see if it'd work without much luck, so who knows.
