|Jcink.com Forums > General Support > Mobile Mode and custom skin|

Another question for today. Still working on a skin and we've noticed that it looks a little...less than attractive... on mobile.
I've tried updating the pagination and added some other mobile code in an attempt to alleviate it but it's not fantastic.
Please see example below:
I'm not familiar with mobile mode, so wondered about any advice on how to set this up so it's a very basic, no frills forum for anyone browsing on mobile.
The second question is regarding a coding issue found on firefox vs chrome. This was partially resolved earlier by another very helpful member, but I've noticed the problem persists on the profile page, screenshotted as follows:
The images at the bottom sit to the right of where they should be, in the white panel. On my pc, using firefox, they are out of position. On hers, they are perfectly square.

| Has something gone wrong? The index page seems broken, and this is how the profile page renders for me:

|Getting the same result. Their CSS is missing a lot of the default elements and has some syntax errors is why.|

| Sorry, I was doing some testing and completely broke the skin earlier today trying to work out how to install a script. I've now uploaded it fresh with the version my friend has, as she was maintaining the backups.
Please see again below:
I wondered if it might be something to do with the position but when i tried adjusting it, it made it worse.
I've experienced a couple of additional issues today around getting posts/points to show up in miniprofile (the <!-- posts --> didn't seem to be working) but hopefully can resolve that myself.
Thank you for the patience

|Can't check the skin at the moment -- but about the variable issue, it's not <!-- posts --> it's <!-- |posts| --> -- the syntax must be exactly as shown.|

| Thank you,
I just tried that and it sitll doesn't show. This entire section of the mini-profile isn't working:
The icons are and the hover is functioning as per CSS but the actual image/numbers are not showing up.

| You're using CFS. I just noticed that. CFS is not supported here. That is why this isn't working and also why you're having so much trouble.
Please see here about the HTML Template System and CFS:

| We're using the html template to set up the miniprofile and that's where this particular issue is regarding the miniprofile fields.
The plan is to convert the rest, but because we're borrowing a lot of legacy code from our old site and we're both fairly new to coding, we're trying to get it set up first.

| Are you pasting your mini profile into the post row template?
When I viewed the source of your board in-topic, I'm still seeing this also: <!-- posts --> instead of <!-- |posts| -->
|Posted by: terlim Jan 8 2017, 06:19 PM|
| It is currently in that template. I can try moving it to the miniprofile section. Let me check to make sure the |post| saved.
|Posted by: John Jan 8 2017, 06:21 PM|
| You need to do that, yes.
That's why it is not working. The post row template does not support a lot of the variables you're trying to use.
The list of available post row template variables is here:

| I copied across all of the mini-profile code and now it's not showing up at all on the right. is there anything else I am doing wrong?
I've added in <!-- |mini_profile| --> and I tried capitalising the first letters to match the template name.
|Posted by: John Jan 8 2017, 06:29 PM|
|does your post row template contain <!-- |mini_profile| --> ?|
|Posted by: terlim Jan 8 2017, 06:32 PM|
| It does in the section where the miniprofile codes sat before.
|Posted by: John Jan 8 2017, 06:35 PM|
| ok... this is really strange, unless...
Where did you put the mini profile template? did you put it under Skins & Templates > Profile Templates by chance?
|Posted by: terlim Jan 8 2017, 06:43 PM|
| At the moment it's under the mini-profile section in html templates. Should it be in the other area? Some of the style codes still sit in the style sheet, but I didn't think this would impact.
Should I PM my CSS?
|Posted by: John Jan 8 2017, 06:46 PM|
| no, it shouldn't. I was just checking to see if it had been put there by accident. at the point i dont know what's wrong because i have never seen an issue before where the mini profile variable wasn't working.
the only thing i can think of is that maybe under "profile templates" -> Enable custom mini profile templates? needs to be set to 'Yes', and any template already in there for that skin needs to be blanked out. I am curious to know what the settings are in there.
if they are already set to yes I will have to see if we are looking at a bug or not.
css will not be helpful as this is not a css issue

| These are my current settings on the board:
I've also cleared the profile template, so there's no interference. The mini-profile is still not appearing. I've transferred all style codes into style sheet.

|unfortunately I am going to have to ask you to create a new admin account and PM me the details on here so I can figure out why the mini profile variable isn't working. it may be something simple or a more serious bug.|
|Posted by: terlim Jan 8 2017, 07:07 PM|
| Okay, I've done this for you now.
Thank you for your help!

|i fixed it. turns out. there was some very strange character in the <!-- |mini_profile| --> variable text for some reason. maybe a weird copy and paste? not sure! but I deleted it, rewrote it by hand and all is well.|

| Thank you a lot for your help, that appears to have completely solved it it!

|This topic has gotten a bit off track -- is the original issue resolved?|
|Posted by: terlim Jan 11 2017, 09:41 AM|
| We think we've figured out the mobile issue, so that is fine
I tried transferring the main profile into the profile template but I still get the firefox issue, so I don't think it's to do with CFS. As a reminder, the issue was that the icons in firefox appear off-centre, whereas in chrome they are fine. Issue per FF:
We've actually encountered another issue involving the header sitting below a particular row in the posting areas, as below:
As far as I can tell, this relates to < % board % > and its positioning, but I cannot see how to move it to get the buttons to sit below the header.
These are really the only big issues we're having now, as the rest of the skin seems to be working quite well.
