So i started a new forum, I set it up on MyBB but i'm having issues.....I have a few questions......

The mods available: Arcade and Bookie specifically......

Arcade - Will this be removed at any point? I'd like to have an arcade on my forum.

Bookie - Is this like a betting system where people can bet on sports or such? Also, is this going to be removed in the future?

I'm asking these things because I want to get my forum established the way I want and I don't want to have to deal with back-end problems anymore.......MyBB was giving me problem after problem.....here is my current forum:

https://www.nucleusboards.net

I will be most likely buying premium due to the fact I have adult content on my forums......but i'm looking for a permanent solution.......

What modfiications from the mod center are going to be removed (if any) so I can plan this accordingly......

#1. The arcade was developed at a time when Adobe Flash and flash games were at their peak. It is now an astonishing 14 years later.

Adobe will stop supporting flash player in 2020, https://www.change.org/p/adobe-systems-make-flash-player-open-sourced -- basically signing it's death warrant. No more security updates or fixes. That's a problem since there is no suitable replacement for it. We will not get rid of the arcade this year, but will be deprecating it in 2019; when we will remove it though I'm unsure so there is certainly still time left to utilize it.

I don't know if there will be a new arcade system added or not; the only option is to rebuild the arcade to support HTML 5 games. Which, for this type of setup, simply doesn't work the same and doesn't have any support at all anyway. There's no place to "get" and HTML5 arcade game. It kind of saddens me, the arcade module can really provide a lot of fun when utilized correctly, but it is what it is.

#2. Bookie was removed as of 2/25/2017, we currenly don't have any plans to add it back as it was the least used module of all. Sorry about that.

We already did remove quite a bit that had very low usage rate or simply was outdated, here is a feature cleanup thread from last year in 2017:

Of what's remaining I can assure you the portal, the store, shoutbox, affiliates, are certainly not going anywhere.

Thanks John. I currently have a self-hosted MyBB forum but i ran into a problem and can't seem to get it fixed.......so i'm looking at my options right now. http://files.b1.jcink.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif

I just found out that ZetaBoards will be no more and they are forcing their users over to the tapatalk platform....Do you see Jcink being sold off or anything like that in the future? I really don't ant to keep moving around if I can help it.

I've addressed some concerns regarding that here:

https://forum.jcink.com/index.php?showtopic=28962&st=0&hl=tapatalk&#entry205764

Also I believe it's only IF that was sold and not ZB.

Nope, ZB as well. As per - http://support.zathyus.com/topic/7021172/1/. I mean i couldn't use them anyway cuz my forum will have an adult section on it so i'd need premium anyway.

I'm just trying to decide on what platform to go with at this point but i'm heavily leaning towards Jcink. Any new features down the pipeline to make the platform even more modern?

Also, i would like to use this link: http://nucleus.jcink.net/

Also, where would I go for codes/themes for Jcink?

It's taken but the board is offline/dead, is it possible to get this URL?

Yes, ZetaBoards has also been sold to Tapatalk. Brandon (the creator of the ZB platform) basically doesn't run things and is not the "main face of the network" anymore. He now works for them.Basically, all InvisionFree AND ZetaBoards users have been screwed over. Mainly the InvisionFree ones, who have been told to switch to ZB if they do not want to be automatically switched to Tapatalk. Even the ZB staff members haven't been told anything until the announcement was (going to be) made, it seems:

ZetaBoards has entered its final days of existence, at least how we know it. It's been a rather interesting discussion time over the ZetaBoards Support Board. http://files.b1.jcink.com/html/emoticons/dry.gif

But yeah, just use this host, you will not be making a mistake. http://files.b1.jcink.com/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Yeah I had a Jcink board awhile back, i'm thinking of returning. I was looking into IcyBoards as well, but the way themes are added seems rather annoying....

If you just use a search engine for "Jcink Skins" or codes or something like that, you turn up lots of resources.

John

Is it possible to get the URL nucleus.jcink.net? there's a board there but it seems dead/unused.......please let me know! http://files.b1.jcink.com/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Email me at admin@jcink.com regarding any request for a currently taken board name -- I will need to see if the board owner has not logged for years.

Also, is it possible to have custom profile fields viewable and editable by only seelcted groups? So if they aren't in those groups they can't view the profile field?

Sorted my issues with my current host. Don't see a reason to migrate over to Jcink at this time. http://files.b1.jcink.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif

Alright -- no problem! We're always here if you reconsider!
