I remember (correctly or wrongly) that once upon a time, a few years ago, you said you have deleted lots of inactive forums. Do you still do it?
Because I might end the story on my forum (so it will become inactive, but not unused/ unwanted) but I might open another follow-up, to which this would serve as "first chapter", or read-only archive. And I wouldn't want it deleted just because it seems inactive, but people are still reading it.
Again, this won't happen tomorrow, but in a few months. Still I wanted to ask because I had remembered such a point being made once...

I have counted the characters' posts at the beginning of the contest here

If I use the same feature to count the characters' posts at the end of the contest, I notice that for some people the count isn't correct. For example, Jose Silveira
figures with the same 1 post from the beginning, but if you check the posts during July in his profile, there are 4.
I checked if the forums he posted in were enabled to count posts, and I found out that exactly the sitewide event
wasn't, by mistake. But I corrected it and I recounted, resynchronised... still the displayed post count doesn't change, even if now it is enabled and recounted and resynchronised. What else should I do in order to make sure it counts the posts now, in order to check who won the contest?

Yes, you know already that I am IT illiterate and I ask stupid technical questions. I wanted for a long time to ask about backup. Yes, I know I should periodically hit that backup button on the sidebar of the control panel, and I do it. But then... It gives me a panel written... showing like the forum skin code shows, ie on the main screen... and I don't know what to do with it.
I think it is too huge to be copied... and if it should have been copied, then where? In a Word Document? If I choose select all, wouldn't it select all the screen, things outside that forum panel too?
This confuses me a lot, because in my (incorrect) opinion of an anti-technicus, if I hit the backup button, there are two things which I expected to happen (both or either one):
-1) a backup happens on your server, and I should be notified only "Backup completed". I know people at a previous workplace did it this way.
-2) a file of a certain format (not sure what kind it should be) appears following the backup and asks to be saved in my computer.
Given that it doesn't happen this way, I am asking you what should I do with all those mysterious code rows in the panel? Where and how to save them? And doesn't the content get saved on your server too? Would the coded inscriptions backup be useful only if moving somewhere else?
Sorry for my stupid questions and my confusion, I appreciate your patience for trying to understand my way of thinking and to answer in words that I can understand.
