I want to go premium. But have problems.
#
Reasons:

1. Prices. The payment is expensive converting it to my country and as a student I somehow cannot afford it even if members have mailed me many a time concerning allowing Mature contents.

Check:

  • 9.99 US dollars = 3,149.3475 Nigerian nairas
  • 79.99 US dollars = 25, 216.8475 Nigerian nairas

.
.
.
Can there not be other premium packages, like, for students and etc.,
- mini premium
- cheapremium
- super premium,
- ultimate package,
- ultra ultimate,

so persons can select packages their worth?

.
.
.
Like even, making the Adult Content Feature and AdRemoval a separate package or autonomously per se? Wouldn't it be cheaper and attract more subscribers and gratitude including me? Would it not be a good idea and help others.

2. Paypal is not supported in many countries for reasons best known to them(including mine). Can there not be other payment options like Verve, InterSwitch used in many African countries? Or perhaps, any other money transfer protocol?

TeamJcink, pls consider.

While I do sympathize with your cause, you do need to understand that this is a fully managed forum hosting provider based in the United States. Therefore all of our costs are relative to the United States.

The package is kept simple purposefully, so no, I don't agree with adding a bunch of different packages. The $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year price allows us to cover any forum, of any size, without any limits.

I don't know how much cheaper you are looking for, but if you are expecting premium service level for $1 or $2 usd per month, that is never going to happen.

Helping others is wonderful, but this is also a business. Again, I understand the situation in your country. But you need to see that price of premium service for 1 month at $9.99 is the equivalent of just a couple of meals at McDonalds in the United States to put into perspective. A cup of coffee -- Dunkin Donuts Large, is $2.50 where I live. I am still in college and Students on campus drink it like its water every day (I don't, since it makes it me sick). 2 cups of coffee is = $6.25. A medium pizza from Pizza Hut in the United States is $7.99 and that doesn't even include delivery or tips, but students eat that up too. I could go on and on with similar examples.

My point is that the premium service IS cheap already for what you are getting and we are constantly improving it. I just raised the number of forums allowed on the plan last month as well. Also, I am always evaluating prices but lowering it is not economically viable at this time. Removing certain features like "adult content allowed" do not automatically make the price go from $9.99/m to $1/month. It doesn't work that way.

I hope this makes sense, it is possible that one day we might be able to offer a package that fits your needs but until then the pricing is not likely to change any time soon.

We'll consider, but Paypal is the fastest, easiest way to pay and provides the lowest overhead cost for us. It's also very secure for us as we never have to touch anyone's card information.

Adding to what John has already said, I've looked around for better options, and jcink offers you the most "bang" for your buck.

No other service allows SIX forums on one subscription. That's literally less then 2 dollars per forum for an entire month of basically doing whatever the heck you want.

Bouncing off of what Sith and John said, $9.99 per month is pretty reasonable, considering all the perks you get. The way you separated the packages, Rich, doesn't really make a lot of sense, considering most people go up to Premium for the adult content.

I understand that Premium is relatively cheap and any changes to offered packages are not guaranteed, or upcoming anytime soon.

But I wanted to add that since many RP communities that choose Jcink for its "bang" might be inclined to opt for a middle-of-the-road option that included Adult Content and Age Restricted at a price considered reasonable by Jcink. Ads are ads; they're everywhere, and they generate revenue for hosts. Restriction to PG-13 per the TOS at the "free" status is both a damper on some types of roleplay forums and the single biggest incentive many of us have to even consider premium. Many of us absolutely do not need more than one forum, or 2GB of space.

It could be more profitable for Jcink at some point of eventuality to offer such a package for a slight discount - surely it would lead to an increase in paid forums, at the least - considering the ad revenue could theoretically continue with little impact on the interest admins might show for an approved expansion beyond PG-13. I've recently learned that, apparently, having a "medium" option tends to make folks subconsciously prefer a "large" if it's shown to be a better value anyhow, such as movie theater popcorn "deals."

Just my (unnecessary and unasked-for) two cents. http://files.b1.jcink.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif

No... it couldn't. Not even in theory. It's not allowed.

The entire reason premium was created is because under no circumstances are we allowed to run advertising on mature content. Advertisers do not want their ads put on sites that have mature content.

A $2/month package for example (just throwing numbers out there) that allows mature content but continues to run advertising is just literally impossible. You might say "find an ad provider that allows adult content then" ... far easier said than done. Most of them are sleazy and low quality. Not something I want to bother dealing with.

The ability to run mature content is the main attraction of premium as you said. And the ads being removed -- and the $9.99/m price pays for this, for any forum, of any size. The rest of the options -- 2GB space, etc, are simply nice addons that we have thrown in to make premium more beneficial along with the primary purpose that we already know the majority are paying for. I tried to make the package similar to the type of freedom you get when you pay for a $9.99/month webhosting account.

I don't think you've looked at Google Adsense or any other kind of program that lets you throw your website into popular search engines and the like. Google and other places where ads MIGHT pop up (big "if" considering ad blocker is VERY popular), adult content is a STRICT "no-no". The only place these "adult content" ads pop up is honestly the "extreme" gore sites and fetish based sites (as well as porn sites). These adult sites all have their own rates of advertising (for example $60 for 1 month period for your ad to show up somewhere on their site).

Due to the "prudish" nature of these large search engine sites (like Google), they have a very strict TOS because they are "family friendly" and people ALL ACROSS the demographics in terms of age use their website (seriously every kid of all age groups uses Google for school projects).
