 Forum rules visible in category-like forum [SOLVED]
#
I have a forum where posting new threads is turned off (under settings- Root Forum Option: Allow posting in this forum? set to 'no'). I would like to have the forum rules still show up at the top (over the names of the subforums). Right now it'll let me edit the forum rules, but they do not show up on the page. Anyone know how to do this?

Unfortunately there is not. When a forum is made "not post-able" it also removes the associated "rules" with said forum. This is intentional as it's meant to function like a category only. so any individualistic option like that is hidden, even if you have filled it out.

Instead of making it not-postable you could get around this by just making it so only designed groups can make posts, etc. in the permissions section for that forum. I've done this before and it's an easy, workable solution.

THE SONIC CENTURION

Just wanted to bring something up. When you suggested to have "Designed Groups can make posts", did you mean "Assigned Groups"?

Not a huge deal...just wanted to bring it up in case anyone gets confused...

LOL yes. I didn't even notice that typo. I'm sick and on cold medicine so. . . a little out of it. But assigned is what I meant to type. Thanks for letting me know and sorry if anyone was confused. =)

I could do that. I just prefer the decluttered look of the category, since there will be zero threads in that section. It's not a huge deal; it just doesn't look as nice with a big empty forum space that won't be used.

@ModdOryxite I have an idea

In the forum rules text, put this

<style>#topic-list { display: none; }</style>

This should hide it. http://files.b1.jcink.com/html/emoticons/smile.gif
