 Twitter post not using a scrollbar
#
I meant to title this topic "twitter post now using a scrollbar".

I've noticed that when members embed tweets a scrollbar appears rather than showing the full tweet. This has just rectently occurred. It used to just show the full tweet.

I'm using this code for embedding tweets:

Ouch, I just took a look at this and it the cross document messaging is no longer working. It appears to be blocked for security reasons by the browser.

The fix for this is here but I have to do some testing with it to see if it will also work for this case. And you will have to edit your existing bbcode. I'm not sure how to fix the current one and all the old embeds now, unfortunately.

Can you paste the fix here John after you get the testing done? Kind of a bummer since that tweet embed was really useful.

Yes, it may take me some time though before I can look into it fully though, indeed that tweet embed code was really useful

John. Have you had the chance to play around with a fix for this yet?

John.  Have you had the chance to play around with a fix for this yet?

I have not had time to figure this out. Sorry. It's an issue outside of JFH.

You can try replacing the template with this:

CODE
<iframe data-s9e-mediaembed="twitter" allowfullscreen="" onload="var a=Math.random();window.addEventListener('message',function(b){if(b.data.id==a)style.height=b.data.height+'px'});contentWindow.postMessage('s9e:'+a,'https://s9e.github.io')" scrolling="no" src="https://s9e.github.io/iframe/twitter.min.html#{$id}" style="background:url(https://abs.twimg.com/favicons/favicon.ico) no-repeat 50% 50%;border:0;height:186px;max-width:500px;width:100%"></iframe>

Do I replace the BBcode with that or add that to the board template? I haven't played around with this stuff in quite awhile. I tried replacing the old BBcode with that new code but it didn't work.

That's the HTML for the BBCode. I don't know what IPB's terminology is for it.

{$id} should be replaced with the tweet's ID.

Chazz871 try this

CODE
<iframe data-s9e-mediaembed="twitter" allowfullscreen="" onload="var a=Math.random();window.addEventListener('message',function(b){if(b.data.id==a)style.height=b.data.height+'px'});contentWindow.postMessage('s9e:'+a,'https://s9e.github.io')" scrolling="no" src="https://s9e.github.io/iframe/twitter.min.html#(PARAM1)" style="background:url(https://abs.twimg.com/favicons/favicon.ico) no-repeat 50% 50%;border:0;height:186px;max-width:500px;width:100%"></iframe>

John it still only shows part of the image in a tweet only this time it shows no scrollbar. The image gets cut off. It does the same with a regular text tweet.

I changed the height in your code from 186px to 1000px and that seemed to work for posting tweets with images and video. The only downside is the twitter symbal shows way down at the bottom making every embedded tweet without images 1000 pixels in height. Maybe someone can tweak the code some more to fix this. Aside from that issue it works at least.

John can this code be tweaked to work better? it's almost perfect except for those couple issues I mentioned? The one thread at my forum really relies on this code.

I'm unfortunately not sure. Could you link to a specific post where you tried it with the new code so I can play with it live?

Sure. Thanks John.

Also with the original code all I had to enter was the tweet id # but the new code I have to enter the whole url but that is actually more convenient anyway.

Edit: sometimes when I do enter just the tweet id# it will work but seems glitchy.
